Meet the instructor

Since the age of 5 years old Erik has been in the martial arts and although martial arts started as a punishment it grew into a lifelong passion and career spanning over the last 28 years.

Instructor Erik’s first martial art was in tae kwon do, a Korean based art that is known for its kicks and footwork.

Starting out as a white belt and eventually moving up in the ranks throughout the years Erik at the age of 21 became a 1st degree black belt.

Several years later at the age 25 he became a 2nd degree black belt and at the age of 34 he became a 3rd degree black belt which he is currently at now.

All of Sensei Erik’s ranks are under legendary world champion kickboxer and sport karate world champion Bobby Dixon who just so happens to be his father as well.

On top of being a black belt in tkd Erik became a 2 time muaythai champion in the DFC and SIAM fight promotions with a record of 7-1 with 4 KO’S.

As striking was his first love and main pedigree due to his fathers background Instructor Erik decided to try bjj or Brazilian jiujitsu a Japanese art that was evolved in Brazil by the Gracie family. As many know bjj exploded due to the Gracie family and after 10 years of training Instructor Erik is a bjj brown belt under legendary mma fighter Paul Rodriguez of American Top Team Orlando and under the Ricardo liborio lineage.

instructor Erik competed in mma back in 2018 at the HIT world tournament a martial arts tournament in Miami Florida and had to fight 3 times in 1 day which he won all of his matches by submission.

This just led Instructor Erik to explore several martial arts as he was hooked on the lifestyle, since then he has earned rank in FCS Kali a weapons based art from the Philippines aka the ‘’The Bladed Brotherhood’’ he trains directly under Guro Ben Zaharis and Tuhon Ray Dionaldo.

Then Instructor Erik found Master Jeff Speakman and American Kenpo and now trains with Sensei Chris Beatty who is a direct student under Sensei Anto and Master Speakman.

Being a huge fan of the grappling arts Instructor Erik has started training with Team USA Olympic judo fighter Lakea Vargas to improve his stand up game of his grappling style.

Recently Instructor Erik has become an affiliate with Sensei Duane Ludwig and Bas rutten of Bang Muaythai which Sensei Erik teaches at his and his fathers dojo American Martial Arts Academy in Orlando fl.

Sensei Erik has also joined JYANGURU DOJO to learn a traditional Japanese art called ‘’SHITORYU KARATEDO’’ under legendary mma fighter Sensei Seth Petruzelli.

Instructor Erik is also a NRA Certified firearms instructor in 3 disciplines
